This Pinot Noir is from the steep slopes of Brian Gilbert’s vineyard at Ashton in the cool Adelaide Hills. The product of a later, cool vintage the grapes were hand picked and about 20% whole bunches included in the ferment. It spent about seven months in French oak barrels. Was neither fined nor filtered.
We’re very happy with our first Pinot. It’s quite light in colour with pretty, floral and spicy aromatics and lovely flavours – think wild strawberries, a smattering of spice and subtly stalky notes to sip. Very moreish and like most reds in Australia, really better if it starts off with a bit of a chill.
It was transferred to our Sydney warehouse in bulk and is available in bottles and in kegs.
